Memorization practice and academic success in Saudi undergraduate students

Purpose In the present study, authors examined whether academic performance [grade point average (GPA)] can be predicted by self-reported frequency of memorization and recitation, verbatim memory performance, self-efficacy in a sample college students from Saudi Arabia. Design/methodology/approach Students' verse memory, word experience with as well general were measured. GPA was provided Office Registrar. Findings Verbatim for individual words verses moderately GPA. Research limitations/implications To determined is extent to which skills different materials are related recitation practice encoding preferences. Practical implications The findings indicate that even though premium placed on activities transform format learned, replicate may still helpful. Social Western pedagogy, considered counterproductive modes information acquisition. this study illustrate retention an essential processing step upon complex cognitive embedded college-level curricula rely. Originality/value extant literature illustrates benefits exceptional training. suggest success positively what would judged moderate practice, thereby supporting notion exist.
